Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts?
No. You can only use HTML tags within the body of the message.
Why are there colons in the message when I try to post a followup?
Colons appear in the message dialog box when you try to followup up on a message to indicate that those lines are quoted the previous message. That way, you can respond to specific sections of the previous message. Unless you are doing so, however, it is better to clear the previous text (highlight it with your cursor and press the delete key) to keep your message more understandable.
Sometimes, your post may not show up because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of your PC's cache memory. If you don't see your post, please click on your browser's reload button and it should then appear.
If your image file is already uploaded to a web-accessible server, simply paste the image URL in the "Optional Image URL" box of the posting form. A more detailed description of the process can be found on the Resources page of Ralph Barker's site at this link. If you encounter problems, feel free to contact any of the B&W Forum admins by e-mail (there are contact links toward the top of the forum).
If you are looking for an image or web site host, you are encouraged to consider the offerings of Photogserver.net, a service operated by Jim Shuster.
Is there a convention to posting follow-ups?
Yes. As you'll see from the formatting of the message index, there is a hierarchy to the way the messages are displayed. Thus, it is best to post your response in the follow-up form on the post to which you are actually responding. That way, people will know to whom you are speaking, and that person will get an e-mail notification of your response (assuming they've entered a valid e-mail address for themselves).
What's this "other side" thing that people are talking about?
The B&W Forum is a close-knit and cordial community of B&W enthusiasts, most with a penchant for good-natured humor. Showing the "other side" of a subject, either literally or figuratively, has developed into sort of an inside joke among the forum participants. A request for the "other side" simply means your work is appreciated and that an additional image showing a different aspect of the subject would be appreciated, as well.
While we have little tolerance for flames or lack of courtesy, we like to have fun with each other. So, please don't take offense at the good-natured humor you'll encounter here.
Where can I get the scripts for this program?
The scripts are written in Perl and created by Matt Wright. They, as well as other scripts, are available at: http://www.scriptarchive.com/. Enjoy!
