. . . I do remember when gas was normally around $0.17/gallon, and would drop to $0.10 when the So. Cal. stations decided to have "gas wars". That made traveling around in my '55 Chevy pretty economical, even though it didn't get very good mileage by today's standards. Of course, I only made $1.25/hour at the hardware store back then.
